NEW BANGKOK RESTAURANTS NEEDED FOR MY REVIEW
 

we would like to visit a couple of new restaurants in bangkok on this trip....any and all suggestions are welcome....

I assume you two will try out Chote Chitr!

You might try Taling Pling. It's located at 60 Pan Rd, off of Silom, around the corner from the Hindu temple and Soi 13. Phone #0-2234-4872. Here's a link to my review:

I've also been wanting to try a restaurant called Khrua Rommai which is supposed to have excellent Thai/Laotian food, but I haven't made it there the last two trips.

the best thing to do is just ask for the menu which was in the new york times....i think it is hanging on the wall...

Yes, they have a lengthy menu which has English translations.
I've been twice. The first time I was happy to order what was recommended in the NY Times article as that is also what the owner recommended.
The second time I tried to veer off into other territory and she seemed a little peeved.
I agree the eggplant is excellent however.

rhkkmk... have only been to Bangkok once and suspect you've eaten in all the restaurants we went to (mahanaga, le lys, hazara, kathinka, china house and celadon). Though i'll look at this post as it eveloves to spy on your recommendations ahead of our May trip to BKK, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Phuket...

Is anyone else struck by the peculiar phrasing of the title of this thread? For some reason, the POB wants new restaurants for his review. Not for eating, not for enjoying, but for his review. I can assure you that Pandas always want restaurants for food. We are pretty basic that way.

This is without reference to the first person possessive pronoun that modifies the hoped for review. These poor restaurants. At least the old favorites are used to him. Harmonique has a special section.

Give Suda a miss. Average food, extremely slow service and full of Westerners. You'll also be constantly harassed by vendors who are allowed to walk through the open air restaurant trying to sell you copy watches and sunglasses.

If you're in that area, try out Bangkok Kitchen on Suk Soi 19 and the Green Route (btwn 19 and Asoke).

Just hop on this elephant and leave the driving to us. Don't worry about a thing.

Make sure you try the Foie Gras at every BKK restaurant. This traditional Thai food will provide insight into the inner workings of the kitchen.
