New Bangkok Airport

Can anyone tell me the aproximate cost of cabfare from the new airport to the Sheraton Royal Orchid. The hotel just informed me that the cost of their hotel car just went way up, since the new airport opened. I have a feeling that a taxi will be much more reasonable, but want to do a reality check.

I have read on another post on here that a limo service picked up at the airport arrivals lobby is 800 baht to the city hotels. A taxi I've read is around 300 baht including tolls and 50 baht airport fee...I've also read the line is long waiting for taxis. The hotel cars are always more than the other options. We use hotel cars only if it's part of the rate we negotiate for the hotel stay.

Thanks KimJapan. Those rates sure beat the 2,800 I was quoted by the hotel.

Wow! That really is ridiculous! If you want a larger, nicer car, take one of the limos from the airport for 800 baht.

That's a ridiculous price to pay for hotel car service, but the RO Sheraton is far from the new airport...and it could easily take 2 hours depending on the time of day. It took me an hour and a half once to get from the old airport to the Pen. I would go for the 800B transportation if I were you. Happy Travels!

i think you will find the airport limos to be 800-950 B and taxis less than 1/2 of that...

one caution....trunks are very small on taxis and if you have more than two luggage pieces it may be problematic....go for the limo on arrival the first time

LGB165-if you're coming from North America, I suggest that you get a limo for 800-1000 Baht. The additional comfort and ease is well worth the extra $10 after an endless flight.

When you stay at the ROS, make sure that you eat at the Gallery Cafe. It is very close to the hotel. Turn right after leaving the lobby, follow the road as it bends around to the left (it's the only way to keep walking). The restaurant will be on your left before you get to the main road (Charoen Kreung, also known as New Road). Thewy also have Thai massage upstairs for 1/4 the price at the hotel.

Also, make sure you find some time to spend at the garden pool at the ROS.

Lgreenb 165-I know gpanda leans a little to the left, but the Gallery Cafe is on your RIGHT as you walk down the street. You can't miss it.

never follow directions from someone from cambridge!!! they can only see things to the left

Gpanda Oct 6th, 2006 10:55 AM

Unfortunately, the other posters are correct. It's on the right as you walk down from the ROS.
