Yes, I immediately thought of Apa Villa Phulbari, too. Not your style, Bob...

Hey dogster, are you home or travelling now? Brad's big birthday bash is in BKK on the 23rd of this month. If you're around, we'd love to see you there. I promise a good time. Lars and Ken will be there.

You are staying at the Hyatt near Boudnath, isn't that right? There is a Le Meridien Gokarna Forest. It's very near Kathmandu, and was the hunting preserve for the Royal Family. There is now a golf course there. It would be a different setting than other hotels in the area.

I haven't stayed there, but we drove by the turn-off for it, and it looked lovely and green.

Le Meridien is to seriously avoided. I am home. Rhkk's best option is Nagarkot or Dhulikel.

Is there now any place to stay at either one of these places that is up to Bob's standards?

"I am home." What is home to the wandering dogster? Another cruise?

Home Dogster - that probably means anywhere but Melbourne. Bangkok, India, Nepal or just all over the place?

That looks like a lovely option, dogster.

My thought was the same as yours, Mary - anywhere but Melbourne. But perhaps he's been away long enough that it feels good to be there.

I stayed there three days. The food is apalling - as is the service. You are trapped. It's a long way from anywhere. They will put you in a crap room. The only good rooms are at the top, up 1,000 stairs. They have monkeys.

just trust me.

Bob, when are you going on this trip? We are tentatively looking at a Himalayan adventure (Northern India, Nepal and/or Bhutan) in October 2012.
