Need some ER help on Thailand Air
Dear Travel Buddies:
Nok Air has finally opened up their schedule thru December. So I'm trying tto book a one way flight Chaing Mai to Chaing Rai day after Xmas and Nok now shows on their website that it does not fly that route. It's difficult to do normal research now, I'm in St. Petersburg and won't be back home for another 10 -12 days. Does Nok show that route from USA NOk site? Does anyone know what's going on with that route? Any other carriers flying i. Thai Air wants $282 for this small segment. Any suggestions? Thanks a bunch. |
Robbietravels,
I can't find any flights, on any airline, from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai. If you don't want to travel overland, it looks to me like the only way to fly is to first fly Chiang Mai to BKK (Thai or Bangkok Air), then back up to Chiang Rai. I also didn't find any airline other than Thai that flies the BKK-Chiang Rai route. |
It's a 3 hour car ride from CM to CR. You could cheaply hire a driver.

I took the bus (A/C, reclining seats and a beverage attendant) from CM to CR -very easy trip.

Are you comfy flying Cessnas or Saabs? These routes aren't serviced by large aircraft.
The bus ride could be very nice actually. Besides, considering security, check in, taxiing and other airport protocol, the bus probably won't take much longer. |
The northern routes were all, I think, flown by a separate airline (SGA) under license from Nok. It may be that SGA hasn't issued their schedule yet, or the agreement has ended. They may eventually put up the schedule, but I have to agree that driving is about the same amount of time out of your day.
