The Hyatt website and/or contacting the hotel directly should be the cheapest, as most chains now match any bona fide internet offer. Try hotels-asia.com for their rates and then ask the hotel to match. (I am not a big fan of using internet booking sites in Asia, although others have had good experience, I just don't trust them).

I really like the hotel, the views are great, the service and restaurants are very good as well. The rooms are modern and sleek and have bathrooms with views as well.

Amazing hotel!
Ask for a room facing the Bundt.

Cicerone Nov 17th, 2004 07:08 AM

Les, I assume you mean a room facing the Bund, and not the cake. . . .

Right, that's what I meant!
I guess I can't have my Bund and eat it too.

This hotel maintains fairly high occupancy levels year round so you're not likely to find many deals.

The property is very nice with glorious views from the Bund view rooms. The breakfast and evening hors d'ouevres selection in the club lounge is also very good.

I posted my pictures from various stays at the Grand Hyatt on this site (the pics are from multiple rooms -standard, grand, and one of the suites):

Hi xman-we also love the Grand Hyatt after our stay in Mar/Apr 2003. We had a room on the 17th level above reception which put us on about level 74 of the building or thereabouts! The hotel is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in for service, food, ambience, views and the totally unique experience of being up above the river and overlooking Shanghai and all its magic. The pool and spa area is great also. Room service food was tops and one night we ordered sushi and turned the lights in our room off and sat and watched the river & the Bund cove alive with lights. We paid US240 per night and booked direct by phone in Shanghai. It was worth every dollar! You could check www.wotif.com.au or lastminute.com and see if they have any deals, however the hotel is very popular as someone above states and I would just pay the money and enjoy the ride!

Hi XMan, we got a rate of $240 USD per night that INCLUDED all taxes...so it was a bit more competitive than anything else we saw. The agent is at [email protected] and specializes in Asia with special negotiated rates and room blocks. Cheers!
