need help with Tokyo cruise schedule
Hi, we are leaving for Japan in 2.5 weeks and I'm trying to finalize our itinerary.
I am having a bit of trouble with the Tokyo cruise website. Originally I planned to have us visit Hamarikyu gardens first, then take the boat to Asakusa. But I believe they do not operate this anymore? You can only take the boat the other direction Asakusa-Hamarikyu, is that correct? Second, I'm trying to look for the schedule for Saturday April 19. It looks like one cannot reserve tickets for the Asakusa-Hamarikyu route in advance. Is there a ticket booth at the pier? In the English version webpage, I see 2 times (11:40 & 14:20). When I go to the Japanese version (with google translate), it appears that on April 19, there will be a few more sailings? 10:40 11:40 13:25 14:20 14:55 I would greatly appreciate if someone here can confirm what I'm seeing on the website. https://www.suijobus.co.jp If there's no boat going Hamarikyu-Asakusa, then I have to re-plan the day and reverse our route. |

Website says buy tickets at machine. No res needed or available. Can't board the boat at Hamarikyu.
I took that boat on my first trip to Japan in 2001. Am pretty sure I got help buying the ticket. I remember having to use a squat toilet that was randomly placed near the river on the way to Asakusa pier. It was nicer than the one I used at the bus stop in Mugla, Turkey. My memory is that there was no wow factor to the cruise, though I did get a nice photo of the turd sculpture from afar. Vague memory that it would have been better to enter the park from the main entrance, like maybe I had to go there to get a map of the garden. No worries if the boat timetable, or one-way direction, doesn't work for you, so replanning the day is not necessary just to get that boat. It's nice but maybe not worth going out of your way to fit it into your plan for the day. An even more vague thought is that there is a best way to enter and approach a Japanese garden and maybe this one was designed to be approached from the main entrance. The boat does get you to the garden grounds and in a unique way and nbd where you enter. |
mrwunrfl so only the () times are running on April 19? I was confused because the ones that are not in () also falls into the "non-cancelled" dates in April? It's true that it's not a big deal to take the boat, but now that I think about this, maybe visiting Senso-ji first thing in the morning (on a Saturday) is better than mid-afternoon. Worse comes to worse we will just take the subway instead of the boat. Thanks!
(As usual, I know I'm overthinking this! I like to have a detailed schedule so I don't have to think too hard once we are on the ground, but I also understand the need to be flexible and go with the flow) |

tkjapan hi yes, i was just checking the website and I will be checking the "today's status" page when we get there. Just looking at the today's schedule for 4/17, there are multiple sailings Asakusa→Hamarikyu
