Need help with selection of Siem Reap hotel

We will be going to Siem Reap next weekend and I'm browsing hotels and rather like the sound of the following for price and atmosphere....The River Garden, Angkor Spirit Palace, the Claremont and the Angkor Pearl Hotel.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions as we;ve never been there before. We'd like to pay less than $40 for two of us and would like to be in a comfortable spot with airconditioning but am open to suggestions....

There are a lot of inexpensive hotels in Siem Reap and you should be able to just show up and browse hotels. What you think is comfortable might not be the same for other people, so it's hard to recommend something without knowing more about what you like.

Have a good trip!

The Kool Hotel is very nice, about $35 for two and very comfortable. See tripadvisor.

Just came back from Siem Reap. Stayed at Shining Angkor hotel

It is 2.5 km from center of the city, and I had the best nights sleep in a month there. ( had been elsewhere for a month ,and and suffered rock hard beds and noisy air conditioning)

Nice beds, nice QUIET air conditioning, small breakfast provided, and very clean.

If you check on line, I am certain the rates willl be within your budget.

Thanks for the feedback so far. Has anyone stayed at the River Village Manor? It has great reviews but is somewhat away from the town centre so I'm not sure if that would be a good location or not.
It also does not have a pool and I'd love to hear others thoughts if it would be better to have a place which does.
Cheers!

I'm not a pool person, but I consider a pool to be an absolute must in Siem Reap. We used the pool at our hotel twice every day - for a dip after touring each morning and after touring each afternoon. You will appreciate the chance to cool down!
