I stayed at Kadoya Hotel, West Shinjuku, from Dec. 8-14. I would recommend it because of its price and location. Unless you stay at a hostel, be prepared to shell out over $100 USD per night. We paid 14,700 yen or around $140 USD per night for a Twin S room, which is 25 square feet. The room is quite big. It has a two tables, 3 chairs, tv, and an air purifier.

The location is excellent. Two minute walk away from Shinjuku Station, which has multiple levels. Each level is filled with stores and restaurants. If you need water or snacks, there is a convenience store next to the hotel.

Bonuses: free Internet with own laptop. if needed, there's coin-operated laundry on the 3rd floor.

We booked the Villa Fontaine for our stay in April. We are paying 18000 for a deluxe room with a sofa anf bfst. I know they have rooms for 2 for 16000. My guess is that you'll have to get 2 rooms. We have heard rave reviews about the hotel chain. We are staying at the shiodome locatiion. Other locatuions are a bit cheape, but time is also a factor too. It is right by shinbashi and shiodome station and the Conrad hotel from what I understand.

Hi

Is there such a thing? :-) My wife and I stayed at New Otani and Akasaka Excel Tokyu in Tokyo when we where there. The Akasaka Excel Tokyu was the cheaper option. The Akasaka area was nice and it is easy to get around to Ginza, Shibuya and Shinjuku. I have made an interactive Google map of Tokyo on this page http://gardkarlsen.com/tokyo_google_map.htm and the two hotels are makrked with yellow markers. You can find the Tokyo trip report on http://gardkarlsen.com/japan_tokyo.htm .

In Kyoto we stayed at Hotel Gimmond and that was pretty basic and pretty cheap. I have written more about our Kyoto stay on http://gardkarlsen.com/japan_kyoto.htm. Hope this helps a little.

In Kyoto, take a look at the Tour Club.
