Need help! How to get son from Japan(Tokoyo airport) to Seoul,Koreo cheaply?
My son is trying to visit his girlfriend who is in Seoul,Korea for a year teaching English. We are giving him the flight to Tokoyo from our miles but are trying to find a cheap way to get him up to Seoul. Questions-has anyone found a discount type airline that is safe that flies between those two areas? Has anyone got any ideas as to where to look for a cheap fare (right after Christmas) to Korea from Chicago? Any information that you could share would be greatly appreciated!

Round trips between NRT, KIX or NGO and Seoul can easily be bought within Japan for between 15,000 yen and 60,000 yen...price depending on season, airline and travel agent.
If he is not staying in Japan, then why not ticket him with miles all the way to Seoul?

My son flew SEL-TYO for about AU$230 (say US$175) one way on ANA (All Nippon Airways), booking locally. I just checked travelocity.com and couldn't find anything cheaper than US$568 (return) using JAL.
Cheaper, but somewhat more challenging, is the ferry - see www.seejapan.co.uk/transport/sea/
international.html. My son took the ferry from Shimonoseki, at the southern tip of the main island of Honshu, to Pusan, South Korea, then took a fast train to Seoul. The main problem is that to get from Tokyo to Shimonoseki cheaply involves changes of local trains - the fast train is better but dearer.
I'm told you can now also take a ferry from Osaka to Pusan, also advised that the cheapest way to get from Tokyo to Osaka is by the night bus, about Y5000.
