Need help from BKK experts

Thanks rhkkmk for the Singapore air info. I think i am going to take advantage of this great fare.

I also want to go to Angkor, Lp, Vientiane and wind down in Jakarta and Bali and will need legs for all those places. i read before from the BKK experts that I can book from a travel agent in BKK and pick up tickets when I get there, is that right? I suppose it makes more financial sense to do it that way.

I know air asia flies inexpensively ($25 last time I checked) from Jakarta to Bali. Can I count on that airline? Reasons being I'll be staying far from the airport in Jakarta and will need a ride from my friend to and from the airport. What if the flight canceled, do I hang out in the airport and go for whatever available next?

The total for 2 persons from JFK-BKK, Denpasar to JFK is $1337 . Can't beat the price.

Thanks rhkkmk again.

air asia is very reliable, but like any discount airline they have issues, not the least of which is the small luggage allowance which they stick to....

that's just what i paid for jfk to bangkok....we will use air asia to get around a bit on another trip including bali

on air asia make sure you pick your own seats...that is in the purchasing area, it costs more but is worth it and you are allowed to get on first..

For LP and Angkor Wat, you will have to use bangkok Air. They have a Discovery Pass that can save lots of money. First, look at their website and figure out which flights you want. Then you call the 800 number and talk to a call center in India to book your flights. Then you send them a cashiers check and avoid the credit card extra charge. You have to fly a minimum of three legs, but you will definitely have that with LP and AW.

You've gotten some good advice here. For the Bangkok Air pass, it must be purchased outside of SE Asia, so you'll have to do it yourself as per Gpanda's instructions. Air Asia you'll also need to purchase yourself. Depending on your exact routing, you might need another ticket or two. Depending on what you need it might (or might not) make sense to use a Bangkok Agent to book it. I use Eddie at the AmEx agency in Bangkok [email protected] Since so much is easily bookable online now, I don't use him as often as I once did. Still, there are times when I need an agent in Bangkok and he gives great service, If any tickets he gets for you are paper tickets, he'll have them delivered to your hotel. If they are electronic tickets, he'll email them to you.
