Need Feedback on Safety and Things to Do for Traveling to Maldives

Jump to last reply

I am travelling to Maldives for work in a few days and will be staying at the hotel on the airport island. I will perhaps leave work around 4:30pm every day, which leaves me little time to travel between the airport island and Male before dark. I would really like to see the city of Male as I find the colours of the city pretty interesting. Mind you, I have only seen the photos.

My question is: Is there any better use of my time there? Can I catch a ferry to Gan? Can that be an evening trip? Is it wise to go to Male after 5pm as a young woman? Is it worth it or should I just get back to my hotel and rest by the pool?

My biggest worry is safety as well as dress code in Male. Resorts have different rules but Male is perhaps different.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
