Narita to Tokyo - Family of Five
Arriving in Narita with a family of five. Is the airport limosine bus still our best bet or based on the fact that there are five of us will a taxi make more sense?

Where in Tokyo are you going? That makes a big difference. I believe the Airport limo. bus is around 3,000 yen per person to most areas downtown-that's pretty expensive, when you think you could take the very comfortable Keisei Skyliner into Ueno Station from the lower level at Narita that takes 55 min. with just a couple of stops-for around 1,900 yen pp.,and then pick up a taxi from there to your hotel-a very easy transition, btw, as I just did it some months ago. I should imagine that would cost quite a bit less. I would not advise a taxi-it's 60km from Narita to downtown Tokyo-that would be prohibitively expensive. Remember a taxi meter starts running at the equivalent of US6.00 the minute they close the door in Tokyo. I think the Skyliner is your best bet-it's comfortable, it's quick, and the announcements are all in English.

Sorry, going to the Palace Hotel in the Ginza area. My question is if we take the fare for the airport limo bus or the train and multiply it times 5, would we be better off taking a taxi? Thanks!!

Hardly cheaper. Taxi fare from Narita to Central Tokyo is between 20-25,000 yen, and for 5 people you have to hunt down one of few minivans, or take two taxis, which will double the cost. Direct limousine bus to Palace Hotel leaves 7-8 times from Narita and costs 3,000 yen a head.
