Narita airport tax
 

Is there still an exit tax when leaving Japan from Narita? Last time I was there 5 years ago you had to pay 2000 yen I believe to get out of town. You paid at the airport, getting a coupon fro ma vending machine.

PSFC is incorporated in the airline fare when the airline ticket is purchased. (The code for the PSFC (JPY2,040SW) appears in the tax box on the left side of the airline ticket.)

Since the tickets were free from FF miles, I'll assume the tax has been paid and I won't have to. I never saw KimJapan's answer.

Even if tickets are purchased using FF miles, taxes have to be paid. If either you or someone else obtained these tickets using miles, someone has to pay the tax. And included in that tax should be the "departure fee/tax."

I have a ff mile round trip ticket from JFK-LAX-KIX. It cost a little under $50 and $25.30 is SW tax referred to by mrwunrfl.

The taxes are inevitable.

I'm going to have to contact Continental who I got the free tickets from and see if the Narita tax is included or not. If we do have to pay it, I see from the Narita website that a credit card can be used in the machine. Usually award tickets include all taxes to other countries, but you have to pay the US airport taxes, which came to around $53 each for a business class ticket from Kansas City to Singapore with a stop in Tokyo. Not a bad deal!

When you claim an award ticket, you'll need to pay the taxes and fees, along with your miles. You won't have to pay in Japan again.

Tax and fees for a economy FF ticket on IAH/EWR-NRT is $38.90. Usually a few bucks more if there's a connection.
