mysore palace--when lit up? sound & light show?
 

hi everyone! am i correct that the mysore palace is currently lit up on wednesdays, saturdays, and sundays? also, is the sound & light show up and running yet? if so, what is the schedule? thanks so much!

Sundays,national holidays like the Republic Day,Independence Day & State festivals like the Dussehra,this year will be Sunday the 17th Oct.Festivities go on for 9 days.The timing is betw 7pm & 9pm.

The power situation is pretty grim in Karnataka.2 hrs of cuts daily.Guess thats the reason for austerity.

Mysore Palace Illumination Timings

07.00 pm - 08.00 pm
Only on Sundays, National Holidays and State Festivals.

During the Dasara Festival Mysore Palace is illuminated between 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Mysore Dasara 2010 will be celebrated from 8th to 17th of October.

Mysore Palace Sound & light show is not a launched.

thanks so much, everyone! guess we'll have to plan to be there on a sunday if we want to catch it lit up. what about brindavan gardens "light show"? does that run every night? how long does it take to get there from mysore? thanks again!

Brindavan is about 30-40 minutes from Mysore depending on where you stay. The light show was nightly when I was there in October 2009.

The gardens at Bylakuppe (about 2 hrs from Mysore) were the best manicured of any that I saw in India. No light show however. It is a Tibetan refugee settlement, so if you have not been to Dharamsala or Nepal, you can get a healthy dose of Tibetan culture there. Plan to arrive 11-12 to wander the grounds and grab a quick lunch. The prayer service at the temple is at 1:00 and open to the public.
