Myanmar tour companies
Hi
I am wondering if anyone has more recent experience of one of the following Myanmar based tour companies in terms of their reliability and trustworthiness: Myanmar Damsel; Myanmar Delight; Santa Maria and One Stop Travel?
Our family of 7 is planning at trip to Myanmar in December and the Myanmar based companies' prices are half or less what we would have to pay if booking via a NZ travel company. We are just a bit unsure about using them. Thanks, Jane

I've used Santa Maria for three trips and they are excellent. A friend of mime regularly uses One-Stop. And you are so right that if you book with an out of country agency, they often charge double or more. Many times, they use a local agency to make arrangements, then mark up the price.

I regularly use One Stop and they have over 300 recommendations from genuine travellers on Tripadvisor.

Santa Maria is a favourite here and there are a few threads on TA and TT about Damsel and Delight.
The strong recommendation is to buy your international flights direct with the airline and then get a local Myanmar Agent to put an itinerary together.
That's all International agents do- and then add a fat %

I have used several local operators and did enjoy their services. As One Stop is one of the list I used and was mentioned in your considered list, while others not, I would give them a vote.
Having not used Santa Maria so have no opinions, but seems good too.
Sorry have no ideas of Damsel and Delight.

We used Shalom Myanmar, and they did an excellent job. We contacted Santa Maria as well, but they were slow in responding, and did not seem as helpful. I would suggest writing to all of the above, plus Shalom Myanmar, and see who give you the best "vibes." What seems best to you may be different than what seems best to me.

Did anyone know any agency that speaks French? My grandparents are French and they can't speak English well. Heard there are few French-speaking guides in Myanmar. Is there any that offers programs designed for elderly travelers like my grans?

Looking for a good Myanmar travel agency for my upcoming trips and thanks you all for your suggestions. Going to contact a few.
@phoebe If your grans are French then they are certainly more interested in French heritage aren't they? I would suggest Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia instead. Especially Vietnam. They used to be the colonies of France and they have preserved a great number of French buildings. The people there speak pretty good French as well. I booked a tour there and was satified. If you are interested, I may give you the name of the travel agency I used.

The French are the most prolific of the European countries to visit Myanmar and most of the Agents mentioned can arrange French speaking guides...

We are booked with Damsel for January. I researched all these companies you mentioned in the original post, and selected Damsel.
So far, their response and planning was great, but I will report after we come back.
There were good reviews for Damsel on Fodors as well
