Must sees in Singapore
We will be having 4 nights in Singapore post and pre cruise and are wanting to make sure we see all the best places. What do you recommend? We are interested in tours, shopping, markets and eating out.

I'm especially fond of the Botanical Gardens (especially the Orchid Garden). The Museum of Asian Civilization, the small Museum in Raffles Hotel, the Antiques shops at Dempsey Road... There is also the Jurong Bird park and the zoo.
There are many fabulous places to eat in Singapore. Some of my faves for upper end food are Les Ami Au Jardin in teh Botanical gardens and Doc Cheng's in Raffles Hotel.
By the way, no reason to do tours. Transport is easy. Decide where you want to go and go on your own.

I would have to say my favorite thing I did in Singapore was the Night Safari..It was awesome..I can also recommend the Jurong Bird Park (if you like birds), Sentosa Island, the Botanical Gardens..I loved it all..

I find Singapore a bit "boring" but I do enjoy the night safari and eating chile crabs at Newton Circus. Plenty of shopping on Orchard Road so don't worry if you forget anything. Also, Chen Fuji (sp?) Restaurant specializes in fried rice and its great. The tiffin lunch at Raffles is also worthwhile way to see that hotel. Drinks along Clarke or Boat Quat at night.

Just to add how impressive Singapore's MRT system is, it is a great way of getting around and seeing a lot, also getting to some interesting parts that normal visitors don't see. Worth looking at their map and links, you should find it on Kooloo.com

Be sure to check out the Night Zoo, the views from the top of Mount Faber, Sentosa Island (including the museum there, its much bigger and better than it appears) and the orchids at the Botanic Gardens.
You can self tour in Sing easily although if you aren't used to exploring on your own you may want to do a half day general city tour with one of the local tour companies (your concierge can hook you up with one) to get the general lay of the land. Sing is safe and very user friendly. Sing is a very modern city with all the amenities. Public transportation is excellent and you can eat anywhere including the street markets and "hole in the wall" restaurants.
My best meal in all of the Pacific Rim (and I've done a lot of eating ober there) was at Ah Hoi's Kitchen in the Traders Hotel (yes, believe it or not) where I had Sri Lankan Chili crab. If you like seafood and don't mind getting your hands dirty you should definitely expereince it. Its not cheap by local standards (there are a lot of great inexpensive meals to be had in Singapore), but its not actually expensive (don't remember the price but it was more than most local meals), but it will feed 2 to 4 people depending on their appetites. Be sure to order the bread for dipping into the sauce - I can't remember what its called but you can get it either steamed or fried and your server will know....
Don't forget your umbrella, but don't let the rain stop you from getting out and seeing the city.
Shopping is a big topic, there are entire malls for major categories of goods - electronice, etc. Personally I'm more into the local crafts than the major retail shopping expereince but there is plenty of either to chose from.
Malaysia is close by (JB is about a 3/4 day tour), however unless you feel you've exhausted Sing, don't bother.
