Mosquitos in Sri Lanka - Kathie, anyone?

Jump to last reply

We are heading to Sri Lanka in February and will be spending a lot of time in malarial risk areas, including an over-night safari in Yala (now open again) for two nights. While we will certainly take whatever malaria prophylactics are recommended by our travel doc (most likely doxycycline), I get the impression that mosquitoes are more prevalent in Sri Lanka than elsewhere. We have encountered almost none in our travels to India, Thailand, Burma, Cambodia, Laos and Bali but we almost always get a few bites because we rarely use deet or other repellents. Any advice?
