Morning Market - Bang Khu Wiang

Originally we were going to pass on the morning market, but now we think it might be fun. Has anyone gone to this market which is near the Grand Palace, rather than the Damnoen Saduak floating market, or both? It would be more convenient for us to go to the one by Grand Palace, so please let me know your opinions. Thank you.

there is nothing in bkk that compares to the DS market...its worth the ride, if you have time....i do not know the other market?? what kind of mkt is it? the flower market is near the palace and it is very worthwhile...there are lots of markets all over the city, many specializing in specific items, like auto parts, household items, etc....if find those kinds of markets not worth any time....

rhkkmk -- On Ratt's website there is info on 3 floating markets within reach of Bangkok. Here is the descrip: Bang Khu Wiang Floating Market, in Bang Kruai district of Nonthaburi province, can be reached by boat from Tha Chang Pier near the Grand Palace. The market operates from 4.00 am until late morning but the best time to visit is around sunrise. Monks also come to the market by rowing boat to receive alms from the villagers.
However, as you suggested I believe the DS market is the way to go if we can make time...

It sounds like you see DS as more of a local market than BKW, which is more of a tourist market? About how long does it take to get from DS to Grand Palace?

by private car or taxi it takes at least 1.5 hours...
