Thanks so much for the info! From some source we were told that US$ were easily spent as they were in China. We will be prepared to purchase Baht. We are traveling with Smartours; are the hotels conviently located to action areas as they advertise? Is the tour to River Kwai worth a full day; I might miss some shopping for this and want to be sure I'm not disappointed!"

Change U.S. dollars over to Thai Baht at the airport when you arrive. The rate you get is about the same for all banks in Thailand for that same day.

Make sure you get some small bills for paying taxi cabs and cheap purchases. Never assume that a taxi or small store can change a 500 baht note.

River Kwai single day tour is okay. In the past I did an overnight and a year or 2 ago I did a single day tour. Depends on what you like. Read up on it and see if it appeals to you.

You can always fit in some time for shopping in Bangkok! Bangkok is a 24 hour city!

Good luck
