Mini GTG in BKK in February

I'm curious to know just how many fodorites will be in BKK from about Feb 9-15th. Two of us, for sure, will be meeting at Shooters for a bowl of Ming's chili. I've talked about Ming before... she runs a small pool bar by Victory Monument and is a fantastic cook.

Kuranosuke and I plan to meet at Shooters sometime during our trips, which manage to coincide from Feb 9 thru 15. Is anyone else in the city during that week?

No date has been set. I think I can safely say that Ken and I are flexible. We'll see if others are available as well.

We'll miss you by a week. We arrive in BKK February 23 for 5 nights. (in Chiang Mai March 6-12) Would love to have a drink with folks from the site.

We land in BKK at 11:45pm on Feb 14 - but I don't think we'll be going anywhere except to bed! Next day we head down to Hua Hin, and don't get back to BKK until March 23, so I'm afraid it won't work for us ...darn it, so close!

hanuman said he might be able to make it.

hanuman, did you go to the gtg last nov?

besides having a flexible date, i'm also flexible as far as location is concerned. if i recall correctly, there are no tables at shooters, just a small bar. but thats still ok with me.

i plan to go there anyway regardless if the gtg is held there or not. i want to see ming again, and have her garlic shrimp.

No I was not able to attend the GTG in November 2006.

I'll be free from the 12th to the 14th so if you guys have a GTG then I'll join you.

I've marked the 12th (Monday) on my calendar. If there are only a few of us, it won't matter if there is a bigger table or not (at Shooters). If you want to meet somewhere else, that's fine too. I'd prefer it be around the 6:00-8:00 time frame if that is OK with others. I also want a place that is easy to reach by skytrain.

But I, too, want to visit Ming for a bowl of her chili anyway, whether the GTG is there or somewhere else!

Hi Carol and Ken,
We will miss your GTG.

We are at the Patumwan House in BKK, arriving just a couple of days ago from India and today 2/9/07 heading to Penang and maybe Hua Hin for about a week or so, then back to BKK.

Jodo, let us know if you are available for a GTG drink while you are in BKK and others.

Cynstalker, Bisbee, sorry we won't meet this time. Sorry, also, to miss you and Russ, isis. I'm glad you are so pleased with Patumwan House that you wanted to stay there once again. I opted to try a couple of hotels instead of an apartment this time. I'm at Majestic Grande now, but I'm moving to the Holiday Inn (Chit Lom BTS station) tomorrow sometime.

Ken, I sent you an email asking if it is possible to change this little GTG to Tuesday now. (sorry) Hanuman, how about you? Is this date change OK with you?

If not, I hope to see you two in HNL at a GTG in Aug or Sept!

Ken, a nap sounds wonderful to me! Enjoy!

Have fun - maybe we'll bump into some Fodorites by chance . Anyone that's in Chiang Mai on the evening of Mar 8, meet at the Four Seasons bar.

Safe and joyful travels everyone!

Tuesdsay it is! I'll be there by 6, if not earlier. I'm not planning on staying very late, but it will be nice putting another face and name together. Sorry you won't be there, hanuman. Maybe in HNL?

BKK seems to be a good place to see lots of fodorites, if only schedules would cooperate.

I'm headed out to see Ming today, probably around 2 or 3... since I have not been out there yet. I've stuck pretty close to Sukhumvit so far. It's time to GET OUT THERE and SHOP!
