Miho Museum

Good evening fellow travelers,

Has anybody been to the Miho museum? Was it worth the trip? How about the price of admission?

Thanks

Susana

The Miho Museum is a wonderful day tour from Kyoto. Be certain to check that it's open during your travel dates. The scenery en route is spectacular, and the architecute at the musuem is the real highlight -- much more so than the art collection. The Miho was a highlight of our visit to Japan. Refer to the museum's website for the admission cost.

Are there bus tours from Kyoto? Don't want to drive. From the TV documentary, this museum looks like the only one I.M.Pei didn't turn into a sterile tomb.

The Miho Museum was one of the absolute highlights of my 4 week trip to Japan. It should not be missed. The art in the museum is fine but what is truly extraordinary is the architecture and the setting. It is truly spiritual. Don't miss it. You can get there fairly easily on your own from Kyoto. We took a train and then a bus. Just make sure you check the various schedules. We got there at around 10 and left at 2. Don't miss it!!!

Thank you for the responses. It is such a good feeling to know that what I saw on TV is for real!

The bus tour costs approx. $100 per person! I am glad it can be done independently.

Here is the web site:http://www.miho.or.jp/english/

Happy travels.
