We enjoyed the moderate temps and even the overcast days. Made it easy to get out and about. Hope they have something good in the lounge for dinner. We sometimes order a pizza delivered up there to eat with the salad etc. enjoy

It was a Japanese theme last night. Not my favorite. I have a hard time looking at and smelling food. I wonder if it is/was some of my medications. Who knows... I just know that meal time is a big challenge!
Off to Bumrungrad shortly. Hoping for a good report. Wish me luck.

The doctors say I don't need more meds!!! Yeah!!! I am ok to travel home tomorrow night. So yes, it was good news.
We walked to and from Bummy from the JW so more good exercise for me. Time to rest now. The guys have a meeting with the printer.

Carol: I just got in from dinner at Nahm, Metropolitan Hotel, about an hour and a half ago. Dinner was quite good, but I thought better last year. I treated my Thai friend to dinner there. She loved it and it was her first time. It took us 30 minutes and 69 baht to get there from the Dusit Thani where I am now. Last year, my Thai friend, her boyfriend, and I walked there from the Dusit Thani as they came with me when I wanted to put in a Nahm reservation in person.
Since My Thai friend and I were having dinner and it was already dark and raining a bit, we took a taxi. The traffic was beyond scary, even for Bangkok traffic. We arrived at 7PM straight up and our reservation was for 7PM.
On the way back to the Dusit Thani, we took a taxi and it was only 47 baht and normal traffic. I'll check out of the Dusit Thani tomorrow as I'm here for only 1 night and then will move on to the next hotel for one night. I like my room and got a room at club level for less than $139. a night on Expedia, plus $24. tax. This location put me close to both Nahm and I thought to Singapore Air.
Earlier today, I needed to get to Singapore Air and the address that popped up, on Google, is right across the street from the Dusit Thani. So, I asked the hotel staff first about the address and the staff checked the address and then directed me on how to walk there. Well, I got there and it was a construction site with workers working away renovating the building. Yikes! So, I walked over to another hotel and asked its concierge where Singapore Air was and was told that it had moved to Sathorn. Well, I wasn't about to take the sky train to Chongnonsi and then look for the Sathron Square and find Singapore Air. I went back to the Dusit Thani, went down to their bakery, bought a blueberry muffin and then went back to my room. Their bakery is really good and I had the best blueberry muffin that I've ever had outside of home. I then rested up until my Thai friend arrived and we taxi-ed over to Nahm. What a day.
Happy Travels!

We have late check out (4pm) here at JW. DS and Lat have their Omni apartment as late as they want. I assume we will all leave for the airport from JW in a large van.
Lars and Pong are coming here for lunch today so we will see them one last time. They are such great friends. They feel like family.
This has been one of the "quietest" trips, ever, to my favotite city. I regret not having new restaurants or shopping places to report, but I have really needed to indulge myself in a lot of rest and relaxation. One more big hurdlle when I get back home (surgical) and maybe I can begin to feel normal again. HOPE SO ANYWAY!!
I am actually ready to go home..

Carol, you may be the only person on Fodors who I enjoy reading your reports whatever you do! Lounging on the balcony, going to the Pickled Liver, enjoying a fav restaurant, spending time with Lars and Pong, shopping, editing a job, driving to the beach, etc. Your reports allow for a wholly different perspective on Bangkok -- like a resident and not a tourist. They are so fun to read. I have binge-read your old reports like I binge-watch TV shows! So thank you once again for bringing us along. I am sorry that it was not the trip you imagined, but so happy you got great medical care and were able to recover from your infection. Can't wait for the next trip!

Lola... thank you so much for that kind reply! I don't think of myself as a tourist in Bangkok, having been here 41 times over the last 15 years. I really do feel quite at home here.
Trip #42 will hopefully happen in April. I know that DH and DS will be here sooner than that to tie up our big publishing project. Whether I travel with them depends entirely on my health issues.
Guenmai...enjoy your stay throughout S E Asia, as I know you have a number of destinations this time. Enjoy the shopping and dining. I know you will fill your suitcases with all kinds of treasures!!

Take care, Carol and safe trip home. Keep in touch!
Now, I need to get ready to change hotels again. I guess I temporarily lost my mind when I decided to hotel hop in Week 2. But on Wednesday, in Week 3, I'll be back to normal and back in a condo. LOL! Then, after these 3 weeks in Bangkok, it's on to the next 3 weeks of my vacation in the region. I'm almost half way through it. Smiles. My Thai friends and I can't believe that a year has already flown by since I was last here. It's been 19 years now of coming to Bangkok.
