Mekong River Cruise

We are looking for some choices in a 7 day cruise from Seim Reap to Saigon. Not a whole lot of info on the net, so any advice experiences would be helpful in our planning.

Thanks, dogster, I did find this cruise line. It seems to me that there should be others. Did you travel with this company?

dogster Jun 16th, 2008 09:32 PM

Yup, I've been on this three times. Once HCMC to Siem Reap [this is probably the best direction] - once Siem Reap to HCMC and once, which I liked, Siem Reap to P.P.

Highly recommended.

Are there others? Dunno. Never heard of any but that doesn't they don't exist - not for 7 days tho'.. I can't really imagine why you'd look - unless you wanna save a $$ or two.

who is this tegf fool? He/she's a bit lost...

Excellent choice by Dogster. I, too, have done the Mekong Pandaw cruise, and it's outstanding - especially when one considers that it includes accommodation on board in a cute teak cabin, all meals, tea, coffee, bottled water, soft drinks and local beers, plus 1-2 onshore excursions each day.

Now I'm doing the Pandaw trip along the Upper Irrawaddy, Burma, in September 08.

Book the Pandaw! Yay!

Thanks everyone. I am convinced!

We're thinking of taking the Mekong cruise in December. Our daughters, 24 and 21, would be with us. Have there been families/younger folks on any of the cruises other respondents have taken?

I think the cruise would suit them, although they are hardly likely to find the love of their life!! Most people are couples 50+ although they can be younger.

Certainly they would be kept busy and active as a result of the regularly daily excursions (often 2 per day). And if they enjoy reading, they can simply lounge on the panoramic deck in between meals and on-shore excursions.

anyone done the river cruise in june or july?? how hot is it? i don't suppose there's any sort of air conditioning or fan in the rooms onboard???

Tangata Jul 30th, 2008 10:59 PM

The cabins and public rooms are all air conditioned although traditionally lunch is taken with the doors open and the air conditioning off.

We have done three cruises with Pandaw, including Saigon to Seim Reap and two in Burma and would thoroughly recommend them.
