marriott exec. apts sathorn

this property is located on soi 3, sathorn, next to the auz embassy, and across from baan kanitha restaurant. the area fromting the hotel is quiet, clean and uncluttered with vendors, however, the further you down soi 3, the more typical it becomes..

i had a large one bedroom suite on the 27 fl. it had a rain shower and bath, the bedroom a king bed with a flat panel tv, and work area. the living room was large with a work area, a large tv and dvd player, and dining area.

there is a full kitchen, including a dishwasher, large fride, four burner range, oven(too bad i don't know how to roast a bird), and a washer dryer(too bad i don't know how to do laundry).

i guess the room size is about 600 sq. ft.

its a 15 min. walk to the lumpini bts, and another 10 min. walk to the sala daeng bts, via convent road. convent road is a nice tree line road with shops and restaurnat. it gets congested with hawker stalls as you approach silom. the bts station is right there at the intersection of convent and silom.

Sounds like at's appointed like my 1-bedroom at Adelphi. What's the going rate? Although I still prefer my less-than-2-minute walk to the escalator up to the Nana BTS station. Why'd ya' change locations? Have you seen Maeng?

i'm staying twice at the me. my first stay was $95, now i'm returning and its $70.

after dinner last nite, i took the bts back to chitlom, and yes, it was a very easy ride up two escalators from soi 8.
i can understand why you like it so much.

i've been to see maeng twice. i'll be heading over there tonight with fanny. we decided to skip bolan. wonder what thai turkey taste like?

Ken, I'm glad you and NYwoman will be re-visiting Maeng. She will appreciate that very much. Wish we could convince the pandas and RHKs and Kathie to go there..... they don't know what they are missing.

The price for the ME sounds very good! How old is the building, would you guess? Adelphi just celebrated 2 years in business (with 9 monks and chanting and gifts, etc) while I was just there in October/Nov. Interesting to watch the celebration!

The Marriott is only about 2 - 3 years old. Yesterday I met someone at the Fraser Suites Sathorn, right on Sathorn next to Baan Kannitha. The lobby, etc. looked very nice, and I know from the rooms at the Suk. 11 property that they are large to very large.

BTW, got an email from Agoda (or somebody) showing the Citadines on Suk 11 at $49 a night, while the Adelphi was $79.

Ken,

I hope you thought to tell Maeng hello for me!

Internet is free at Adelphi also. Most places in BKK, that I've tried, have had free wifi. Apartments aren't large, compared to the one I had at Somerset Suan Park View a couple of years ago. But I also like the more modern feel of the Adelphi, and did I ever say that I love the rainbath shower head, as well as a separate soaking tub???

If the ME was two minutes or less to the BTS escalator, I'd have to check it out. But then Maeng's would be too far to walk to. Six of this, half a dozen of the other..... lol

Enjoy your time in BKK.

BTW, you and NYwoman and Maeng should try to squeeze in a trip to Tawandang!
