The driver we had in Sri Lanka was Ranmal(sorry, do not have his surname)and his telephone number was/is? +94 77 448 9153 - if you are interested, that should be enough information for BSL to identify him. I absolutely endorse the advice to have a larger vehicle (we had a van although there were 5 of us).

As to a hotel in the Cultural Triangle, we did not stay at Vil Uyana (we were in a hotel in Habarana as it better suited our itinerary) but we did stay 1 night at the Kandalama Hotel because of our interest in its architecture. It is a remarkable building and has splendid views, but we felt it was pretty tired and we were happy with our decision to only spend 1 night. Having said that, its Tripadvisor reviews suggest we are in the minority.
