Hi Joey, I notice this is the second time you've asked this question and have gotten no responses. Why don't you try the India Mike forum? There are lots of locals on that board and someone should know.

Holi is March 8-9. Don't know if the schools close down. Here's a website to check for other Hindu holidays:

March is quite safe from the demon of school children swamping holiday destinations in northern India. In fact, it is time for examination & all of them pick up their books...including those who are habitually truant!!
Enjoy your travels!

LOL re the truants,vp singh!!
I understand the "demon of school chidren swamping holiday destinations" having survived the craziness of "serene" Manali last June!!!

March is not a big school break time and for the schools that do have a break in March it may be only for a week and not all schools break at the same time. Basically, it won't interfere with your trip.

As Mr. Singh already noted, March is generally a month for big exams, so any break time is spent studying since many breaks are before the exams. Hope this helps.

Hi Joey,

In India, vacation is during May and June in North India, considering the peak summer. In South India it is Apr and May.

Would be glad to give any other info needed.

Regards

Sam
