Maldives in November?

Planning our honeymoon for Nov 2006. We want warm, sunny, tropical weather. I have long been wanting to go to the Maldives, but I've read mixed info about the weather there at this time of year. Does anyone have any firsthand experience with the weather in November? Beyond weather, do you have specific recommendations for resorts?

thanks for your thoughts!

Hi, my husband and i will be in the Maldives on November 14th, 2005 for 4 days..We are staying at the Veligandu Island Resort..I searched for a hotel for months, and this offered the best price for what we were looking for....I can let you know what it is like when we return!! Accomodations are very very expensive in the Maldives...

Tracy, I would really appreciate your thoughts after you get back. We were looking at various rate packages last night. expensive...doesn't even describe it! but...the maldives seem like no other place...so we have to go even just once to see! have a wonderful trip and please let me know about the weather and what you thought of your resort when you return. thanks!

By the way, Tracy - did you book through a travel agent? Is there a U.S.-based Maldives-knowledgeable travel agent you (or anyone else) would recommend?

bklyngirl-
I having been researching a possible Maldives trip, in combination with Indian or SriLanka. From NY, the quickest way to fly is with Emirates, a very good airline...nonstop from NY to Dubai, and then connecting to Male. Flights in coach around $1500, but their coach class is said to be quite nice.

For some good deals at the Soneva Fushi and Soneva Gili resorts in the Maldives, which are among the best, check out luxurylink.com. Also check out the package deals on the sixsenses.com website for those resorts.

bklyngrl (hard name to type!!)I could not find a Canadian (or American) based Agent..But I booked through Crown Tours out of the Maldives..(online).They were pretty reasonable and the service was good, despite they were a little slow!! I will certainly post a report when we return..We are flying on Emirates from London (orginating in Canada)..We will be visiting S.India first, and being as how it it only a 30 minute flight to the Maldive's..we could not miss it!!

Thanks, Tracy! we've been told to consider spending a night or two in dubai. we'll see...right now...as it's already going to take two days travel time - we're thinking we want to maximize the time we spend in the maldives. look forward to hearing about your trip!

also, if anyone has stayed at soneva gili and/or huvafen fushi, i would love to hear what you thought of the resort - rooms, service, food, etc. did you do the inclusive package or figure out lunch and dinner on your own? and...are there any particular villas you would most recommend on the property? thanks!

We're going to spend 4 nights in Dubai on the way home..It's again, one of those situations..while we are there, might as well visit!
