Malaysia trip Sept 2007: Tour operator

Does anyone know about eMalaysia.com a tour operator. We are thinking of taking a 7 day car trip with them from Singapore to Melacca to KL to Camerons to Penang, then flying back to Singapore (staying with family there). I know it's a lot to do. I would like to opinions if anyone has used this company or knows someone who has. Thank you!!

That is a lot to cover in such a short time. It sounds like all of your time will be riding in a car rather than enjoying any of those interesting places. I don't know the company, but if I wanted to do a car trip in Malaysia, I'd do it on my own, perhaps hiring a car and driver. And I wouldn't cover nearly that much territory. I'd choose two places to spend my time.

Thanks for prompt response, Kathie. We just found out we are going in mid Sept. and are having to plan quickly.

Question: how would you connect with a car and driver? Unfortunately, driving ourselves is not an option.

If we only go 2 places they would be KL and Penang. We could fly Singapore to KL and back from Penang to SIN. We'd need to get from KL to Penang by land, I think.

I appreciate any suggestions!

Why not fly from KL to Penang as well? There are flights about hourly from KL.

Have you read my trip report about Penang? Kathie's Penang, Chiang Mai and Bangkok Trip Report 2006. Stay at the E&O if you possibly can.

Kathie, thanks for the prompt reply. I have enjoyed reading your postings and your description of the E&O--sounds marvelous! We also loved staying at the Sheraton Royal Orchid in Nov 2003 and watching all the action on the river. I am making some progress on our plans and talked with the Malaysian Tourist Board in NYC and LA for ideas of travel specialists. I wish I weren't having to do all this so quickly.

If you don't want to fly you could also look at trains and buses. I found the long distance buses in Malaysia quite comfortable.

While you can certainly use a travel agent if you wish, this is a trip easily done on your own, booking hotels and air on the internet.

I'm looking at hotels, flights, etc. Fun but time-consuming.
