Malaria pills

Do you need malaria pills when visiting Bangkok, Phuket, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Cameron Highlands Panang? Also Indonesia- not sure of exact destination there yet.

Unless you are hiking (not a day hike), staying an extended period away from civilization, or camping you do not need malaria pills. Do take a good insect spray if out in the back country in June through October.

Thanks for your reply.

Ms. Cook: Be careful. I took a course of malaria tablets (Larium) a few years ago before going to Tanzania and my liver function numbers skyrocketed. It took the better part of two years for them to return to normal values. Your physician certainly should be consulted before you take such medication.

Mary
I think in bkk, phuket and singapore you wouldn't need any prophylactic pills for Malaria. Be careful when you are going outside city, and it sounds great to have some repellents with you, because Malaria here in thailand is quite drug resistant stained.
welcome to asia.
