Major Changes in Burma

If you have been following the news in Burma for the last couple of weeks, it has been announced that over 6000 political prisioners would be released. The first releases started today:

This is a time of change in Burma - it will be interesting to be there and hear from the locals what they think.

Yes I read that in our 'Globe and Mail' this morning. It will be interesting to see just how many they do release, but it is a great start.
You must be getting excited, less than a month?

Yes, we are excited. It's a litle more than a month till we leave Seattle, and we have a few days in Bangkok before we fly to Yangon. I will be fascinated to hear everyone's impressions of this time of change.

The Wall Street Journal had a blurb on it today as well - good news!

I'm celebrating the news but can't help having doubts about the implementation.

So true, Robbie. I doubt any of us are taking it at face value. Nonetheless, it seems like any change is good change...
