Luang Prabang to Hanoi?

It seems I read that Vietnam Air flies from Luang Prabang to Hanoi but the Vietnam Air site is under construction.

I am not 100% sure I will be going to Vietnam but it would be nice to know if it is an easy option for my trip in Oct./Nov.

Thanks!

I didn't find any Vietnam Airlines flights between the two...doesn't mean there aren't any though, I just don't see any. I use ITA software to check.

Lao Airlines flies between the two according to their website...on Tuesdays and Sundays, starting October 29.

I flew from LP to Hanoi via Vientiane last May. LP to Vientian was w/ Lao and then on to Hanoi with Vietnam Air, which I booked with expedia for the sake of convienence.

I honestly saw enough of Vientiane in the few hour stopover we had. I much preferred LP and Hanoi.

Is Vietnam airline the only airline that flys from Luang Prabang to Hanoi?

It looks like they only fly this route each Wednesday?

Please help as I leave in less than 2 weeks.

Thanks!

Tamara

I had similar problems trying to get booked for this same leg (in Feb)

Vietnam Airlines has one flight every day. I just booked it last week through a travel agent.

Her name is Bunnie Unsman

She is very good.

Probably Eddie can do this too

Thanks offwego. I sent Mr. Eddie and email earlier today so I am sure he will get back to me promptly.

How much was your ticket? When is your trip?

This may no longer be of use, but we took the Hanoi to Luang Prabang flight on Vietnam Airlines in December. If you are booking, make sure that you check that you are on an actual Vietnam Airlines plane. Vietnam planes do not fly the route every day (only three days per week) -- they use Lao Air as a codeshare on the other days (which is not known to be as safe).

The airline's website was not functional, so we booked the Vietnam tickets on Expedia -- it was more expensive than buying them in Vietnam, but in high season the flights sell out so we could not risk it. One other thing to be aware of is that Vietnam Airlines was very strict on the luggage limit -- they charged US$3 per kilo over the 20KG limit.
