Looking for antique furniture

I am looking for antique furniture and wall hangings. Where is the place best to buy them. Are they authenic? How difficult is it to ship to New York. What about good quality new furniture and wall hangings.

What kind of antique firniture? Where are you going?

In gerneral, shipping is not diicult, but it is quite expensive. Figure it will cost at least as much as the furniture you are buying.

Ruth, assume that everything you see is a fake, and you'll rarely be wrong. So buy it if you love it and are willing to pay as much (or more) as you paid for the furniture to have it shipped.

The story about the guide pointing out a craftsman working on something and saying, "Do you know what he is making? He is making it old!" may be Apocryphal, but the message is true.

I believe that kung is affiliated with Meteor, so I wouldn't trust his/her word on where to buy.

we had great luck with several pieces of furniture from Shanghai and Hong Kong.Horizon Plaza (recommended by a local) has many shops including Rimba Rhyme. From Shanghai we have a beautiful small antique cabinet from Chine Antiques (fodors guide book)Arrived at our door and worth the shipping!
