Longsheng Hiking: Any suggestions?

We are planning a 3 day village hike around Longsheng, Guilin area. Ideally we'd like to hike between villages, overnighting in local ins or village home stays. Can any one point me to a good map of the region? Do we need a guide or is hiking between villages pretty straight forward? Can any one recommend some nice routes/ places to stay/ guides?

Thanks!

No replies!?! GPanda! I thought latching on to your fame would yield comments galore.

Nope, there aren't many hikers on this forum. You might try Thorn Tree which is on the Lonely Planet web site. the usual poster is much younger and more spry than on Fodors.

Hanuman hiked there with his family recently, Gpanda can get hold of him.

Thanks. I just found Hanuman's reply to one of my threads. I am now planning our trip with the help of his links and advice.
