Long flight no standing-up allowed?
I love traveling to Asia but the flight out there from the USA is so long. The only way I was able to stay sane on the long flight is to get up every hour and go back to the area near the rest room and stand up and some do streaching and visit with the other travelers standing back there. Is this still legal with the new rules regarding air travel since 9/11? I think I read some where that standing up on the plane has been banned.

Mike,
At least on domestic trips in the U.S., you need to remain in your seat for the last 1/2 hour of a flight.

Given that people have died from blood-clots that formed while inactive on long-hail flights, I can't imagine you can't get u[p and walk around. (A British woman died last year on a flight from Asia because of this.)

Maybe you should double check with your airline on its policy.

Mike,
I just returned from a trip to China, and I also needed to stretch periodically. The flight attendants (United Airlines)had no problem with me doing that. I was flying Business Class; if you're flying Coach, there might be a problem because it's more confined, but I don't think they'd stop you.

Having just returned from Bangkok (on Northwest) last week I expect that you will be able to stand up, walk around, or stand near the restroom.

Have a great trip.

Of course you can walk around the plane. It doesn't matter if you fly first, business, or coach.
