Local tour guides in Osaka and Nara
Hi,
Does anyone here has experience with the free local tour guide/groups in Kyoto and Nara? Any recommended groups? :) Thanks |
Uh, let's clarify:
You do mean KYOTO (your question) and not OSAKA (your post title), right? And what are you looking for - walking tours, guided tours of specific sites, cultural/historical tours? |
Thanks for the reply BigRuss, sorry the subject line was a typo error, what I meant was Kyoto and Nara.
I was actually referring to below tour guides/groups: http://enablejapan.com/blog/2014/05/...ides-in-kyoto/ https://www.toursbylocals.com/Kyoto-...CcgaAg8D8P8HAQ http://www.supercheapjapan.com/free-guides-in-nara/ Any feedback/comment would be much appreciated. Thanks |
No need to apologize, just trying to help ensure you get the right question answered. We have an interest in the results b/c upcoming trip.
Haven't used these but will bird-dog this discussion. In Kyoto we actually bumbled into a semi-guided tour at Nijo-jo because a couple of students at the palace wanted to practice English with us and in exchange for our time letting them do so, they tour-guided for us. |
This was question I was also going to ask. We will be there mid oct- mid November.

I had an excellent volunteer guide in Nara a couple of years back, right now I don't have the link...will look for it but meanwhile googling --volunteer guide might work. I had to pay the guide's train fare and lunch. It was a great informative day...

Free local guides can be a fabulous resource in Japan!
You can find great information about Japanese National Tourism Organization guides -- called Goodwill guides -- here: http://www.jnto.go.jp/eng/arrange/tr...deservice.html Please pay attention to the section on the norms that apply to your use of these guides. :-) |

Above is a link to the site I used to arrange my volunteer guide in Nara. |
