Message: While traveling to several different hotels, should I change the address under my name to show where the luggage is actually going to, or just keep one address on the luggage tag?

i always have my home address on my luggage...never change it...if your luggage is missing you will be in contact with the airline so they will know where you are staying..won't they??

by the way i also have sticky labels inside my case with my home address on them...

Before we leave, I print copies of our itinerary and contacts and put a copy inside each bag.

I already made copies of my itinerary and will add the address and phone numbers of all the hotels I will be staying at.I am only taking on large suitcase and 1 carry on backpack. Should I also maybe tell the airline check in where I am staying? If my luggage does get lost, wouldn't they send it home, (if that's what the tag says) and not to my hotel?

Hey Tripper Girl. Don't bother telling the airline where you're staying. They don't "load" that in their system. And they will usually call you first, if there's a phone number on your bag. Best thing - when a bag doesn't arrive, go to the airline counter (usually near luggage pickup) immediately and give them your hotel info. That way, when they find your bag, they'll deliver it to your hotel.

You might also want to check if you can pick it up at the airport when it reappears. I had to wait once for 12 hours for it to be delivered. The itin in the bag is very helpful if your tag on the outside is torn off/lost.

One other thing....your first over-the-water carrier sometimes WILL ask where you are staying, but usually only a phone number. For flights within a country, they don't ask for anything.

My cousin handles the baggages for one of the airlines. He says ALWAYS tag your bags with your home address.
