Lebua at State Tower Hotel.

Just looking to book our Bangkok hotel to round off our Thailand trip in February. Seems to be some amazingly cheap deals for this place. Anyone with experience of this hotel or any tips on good four or five star Bangkok deals for two or three nights at the end of February.

Hi Leigh. I've never been impressed with Lebua. They have been running specials now for a couple of years, which makes me suspect that others are also not impressed. It's not the best location, and a friend reported that the rooms are very dark.

I expect there will be plenty of specials announced right after the new year.

I would agree that the location would keep me from staying there.

i stayed at lebua this past aug. the location is ok, not too far from the taksin bts.

i had a room on the club level, and the room was ok. i think the room i had at columns on suk was better. the club room was nothing special, but i did get two free drinks at the sky bar.

how much are the specials that you are looking at?

Two free drinks at Sky Bar.... that's worth a LOT! It's a very expensive place to sip a drink and enjoy the view.

A location near the skytrain and also walkable to restaurants, hairdressers, laundry, etc. (in other words a location in a 'neighborhood') is what I like.

Oh, I do agree! What a view! Like no other in BKK. I always settle for just one drink and sip it ever-so-slowly to make it last!

I did a report on the place in one of my trip reports some years ago. A Thai friend and I went there and were shown around and it wasn't for me. I was shown different units. I was already staying at my regular serviced apartment building, across town, but regularly check out a group of other buildings in town and take notes.

A few posters here have reported liking Lebua. And there seem to be regular specials on the place. On www.gilt.com they have a travel website that they are also connected with, and Lebua is featured there quite often at a discounted rate. It's a huge building with very high floors and, from what I experienced, slow elevators. And as for the neighborhood, I'm just not a real Silom person. I'm very Sukhumvit. Happy Travels!
