i have done this trip to [link=http://www.kohtao.asia]Koh Tao[/link]multiple times check out this site i found www.kohtao.asia. They have a really good and up to date Timetable for trains, buses and ferries.

The train is a lot slower, but has a better safety record than buses. The main ferry operator, Lomprayah, offers a combined ticket that includes a bus directly to the ferry pier. It's probably the simplest option.
