Lawana site

Okay, tell me if I should worry...

I booked 3 nights directly through Lawana resorts' site. I didn't recieve a confirmation # after entering my info ( including credit card # ), I recieved a "thank you" page. I read that it can sometimes take a day or two if on a weekend. What I'm wondering about is whether or not what I sent was encrypyted ( I know....stupid not to check thoroughly before clicking ) because it transmitted so fast.

Should I be worried?

Can anyone soothe me or chastise me about this this?

Did you print out what you sent? If so, you can tell whether it is encrypted by whether it started with https (secure) or simply http (non-secure). That said, I have booked online with a number of agencies and individual hotels for many years, and every one had a secure (encrypted) system.

I just looked through the reservation sysytem and it does NOT say https....it says http...

How screwed am I?

Remember that your credit card insures you against misuse. Watch your statements carefully (online, daily for a while) and inform your credit card company if anything you didn't charge shows up.

By the way, you are best not to use debit cards online or in foreign countries, as you bank account can be quickly emptied by an unscrupulous person, and a debit card does not have the same guarantees.

Thanks Kathy...

This one just suprised me. My fiancee had some fraud on one of her cards when she was in Brasil and I caught it immediately. Visa was real good about clamping down on it.

Cross your fingers...

i would not worry....i send things all the time on encrypted and non-encrypted lines....its the luck of the draw...

its far more likely that someone would get your #'s from a piece of trash paper or from the hotel office, imo

Oh that I'm totally anal retentivw about...I have "toxic waste" from as far back as 6 or 7 years ago...someday I'll burn it...

At this stage I would not worry at all. The thank you page would normaly suggest they have received your request.
When you say 'take a day or 2' which day and your time did you send ?
It would be quite normal over a weekend that accounting staff would not be even loking at this until Monday morning ( around now time ), do remember the time differences and if you are dealing direct with the resort it might take a few day.
If all working well they would probably handle that Monday local time.
You will probably receive an e-mail confirmation ( if confirmed ) .
Monday am your time would be Monday pm local time so you may well see a reply your time Monday am.

1055 pm on the Fodors time is 9.55 am Monday here, so there's 11 hours.
Again I am pretty sure accounting staff who would handle this won't be looking at this just yet, releax for the meantime.
