New info - Burma is starting a new e-visa option. This would be similar to the Cambodia e-visa for those who have used that. Here is the website: www.myanmarevisa.gov.mm

As this has just started, there are not yet any reports from anyone who has done this. It would be the next best thing to a visa on arrival! lcuy, if you decide to give this a try, please let us know how it goes!

Oops - it turns out the e-visa website is not fully functional yet. Current rumors are that this will start in late February or early March.

I just realized I never thanked you all for your ideas. I did my best, (incuded spending nearly two hours learning new photo editing skills to upload my picture onto the Burma visa site. I had everything perfect, then I hit "pay now". It skipped right over the credit card boxes and gave me a confirmation number.

Too bad all the info disappeared into the ether.

Ah well. i think I'll be going to Luang Prabang instead. I leave tomorrow night and haven't even purchased my BKK- REP ticket. I had hoped to save some $$ by using the Bangkok air Discovery pass, but after numerous calls and emails, I've not been able to get it. I'll buy the ticket tomorrow, then work on the LP and return to BKK when I arrive.

One of the down sides to planning a trip two weeks before taking off!

I did get a great last minute deal at the Emporium Suites in Bangkok though!
