Kyoto or Tokyo

Hi - we're going on a cruise which will give us the opportunity to visit either Kyoto or Tokyo. Altho we would enjoy both we're not certain which one to take. Any suggestions as to which city?

TOKYO if you like big cities. Crowded, lots of things, fun.

Kyoto is a lot smaller city.

This really depends on what you like. Tokyo is a sprawling, large city with lots of modern attractions and a few notable spots in which traditional culture remains. Kyoto is itself a city, but much smaller, with perhaps more picturesque scenery (although you do need to know where to look for it).

M

Kyoto is also considered the center of traditional Japanese culture and religion. It is full of temples, has a charming river flowing through it, and a very different feeling from the modern bustle of Tokyo. Difficult choice!

Kyoto offers a better glimpse into traditional Japanese culture. Its a beautiful city. Tokyo felt a lot like NY.
