Kurashiki versus Kosanji Temple

For those of you who have been to the above sites - if you had to choose one which would it be?

We're narrowing down the last of itinerary for November, 2018 and trying to decide which of the two locations we would like to see. We probably don't have time for both. They're both appealing.

So turning to the Japan visitors/experts here for some input! Please

I haven’t been to Kosan-ji, but must admit being a bit puzzled by the question, as Kurashiki is a city with several sites of interest to various travelers and easy access to other sites (e.g., Okayama), whereas Kosan-ji is a single temple at a distance a bit far from many itineraries. Will you have visited any of the temples that Kosan-ji replicates, or do you plan to do so in the future? Will you be in the area for other reasons? Those things would affect my decision….

Kosanji looks interesting and quirky. I haven't been there but have been to Kurashiki. Tough call as far as I can tell (but easy choice for a Buddhist). Kosanji is one part of a visit to Onomichi which also looks interesting. http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3475.h...m/e/e3475.html

Thanks for your responses.

kja - we decided on Kurashiki for some of the reasons you listed. We will have seen several temples as part of our trip so felt it was a better decision after all.

Thanks again!

I hope you enjoy Kurashaki! (Even if I was a bit curious to learn what you thought of Kosan-ji! ;-) )
