Kuala Lumpur : Mandarin Oriental or Ritz Carlton?

I have read good things on both hotels and can't decide which one to book. Any tips and help here from people who stayed at any of them? They are both at the same price range.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Do a search on this board, you'll find lots of comments on both. I had a wonderful stay at the Ritz. I think it's worth it to pay more for the larger room. All of the rooms do come with butler service and Club access.

Hi Tere, I stayed have stayed at both (most recently the Ritz Carlton this March) and prefer the Mandarin - it's just simply a classier and more sophisticated hotel than the Ritz. My agent has gotten rates for me at the Mandarin for about $129 USD including all taxes and full breakfast. His e-mail is [email protected] if you need an agent. Name is Gary and he's never steered me wrong in over 10 years! Best, Nancy

Thank you both very much for your help. I have just booked the Mandarin , that is more appealing to me than the Ritz Carlton and got a great rate at sawadee.malaysia for 125 USD breakfast and taxes included.

The Mandarin is a great choice. We were there for 4 nights in February and just can't say enough good things about this hotel. The food is outstanding. The location is superb - be sure to go out at night to the plaza and enjoy the scene with lots of locals, excellent music and the spectacular view of the Petronas Towers. I'd go back in a minute.

In our opinion, it is the Mandarin hands-down. We'd suggest splurging for a room on a Club Floor if you can, and also requesting a Petronas view. There is nothing quite looking out at those majestic towers all lit up at night -- we kept our curtains open just to gaze at them from the bed!

Without hesitation - the Mandarin

I had a GREAT stay at the Ritz Carlton (club level?), but haven't tried the Mandarin yet...will do so on the next trip to KL. Happy Travels!

The Crown Plaza Park Royal is a very good hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
