Kuala Lumpur for New Year's--activities for whole family?

We are from Manila and will be bringing the whole (extended) family to KL over New Year's. Can those who are quite familiar with KL be kind enough to share what activities we should do for the kids? (aged 3-13), the women, and basically the whole family?

Thanks a lot!

Send the women and older kids shopping- have the guys watch the younger kids swim at the hotel.

Hello Kuranosuke--No particular reason going to KL, except to travel with the family to an out-of-town location that is affordable and different. We spent last New Year's in Singapore, have done HKG in the past, and a number of trips to BKK this year (in smaller groups)--so we narrowed down to KL as an option this year.

KL is also convenient for us as it is only a short "hop-and-skip" away--considering we are a big group with kids. Do you have suggestions for us?:)

In the massive shopping centre under the petronas towers there is a really good museum dedictaed to oil and energy of all things. Lots of interactive things for persons of all ages to play on - an earthquake zone - dinosaurs - a ride - a helicopter simulation - F1 car ride etc - Suitable for Kids and Grown Ups!

What do you think of basing the group in Petaling Jaya instead of KL center? Someone recommended the Hilton in that area, and a suburban place might be better for everyone? What do you think?
