Krabi, Phi Phi, Phuket or Samui?

My fiance and I are considering Thailand for our honeymoon and can't decide which beach area we should choose - Phuket, Krabi, Samui or Phi Phi? Also, we're going in October - is that a terrible time of year for any/all of those places (would we be better off in Bali)?
I think in Oct the weather should become nicer, because the monsoon season should end by late Sep. My friends went for their honeymoon in Samui. I think it will depend on you whether you like popular destinations or not. If the answer is yes, go for Phuket or Samui. If you prefer more quiet/ private, i would suggest Krabi. It is not too far from Phuket, i think if you choose this you can travel around.
We went to Thailand for our honeymoon and spent 1 week on Phuket and then 1 week on Koh Samui. This was about perfect as they are very different to each other and we had a fantastic time and would definately recommend them both as a honeymoon destination.
Stay as far from Samui as possible. Why go all the way to Thailand to hang out at Myrtle Beach?

I was in the Gulf of Thailand in October of '97 and the weather was fantastic. Stayed over at Ko Tao; a little further away, but much mellower and more intimate than Samui.

Read "The Beach" by Alex Garland when you come back, but not before you go.

Good luck
