Krabi and Khao Lak Travel Plan

Krabi and Khao Lak Travel Plan

Rough travel plan outlined below, based on some lurking here, for a visit this winter.

Day 1: Fly from BKK to Krabi
Day 2: Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort
Day 3: Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort
Day 4: Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort
Day 5: Ground transport to Khao Lak
Day 6: Le Meridien Khao Lak Beach Resort
Day 7: Le Meridien Khao Lak Beach Resort
Day 8: Le Meridien Khao Lak Beach Resort
Day 9: Fly from Phuket to BKK

Looking for rants, raves, and good to know info on the hotels, nearby restaurants, and special things to do and see. Fairly active vacation with time split between water sports and hiking/sightseeing in nature areas.

Ground transport from Krabi airport to Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort: Arrange via hotel or take airport taxi?

Ground transport from Krabi and Khao Lak. Should I plan on 3-4 hours? Anything worth stopping for or detouring slightly to see? Arrange via internet ahead of time or let hotel arrange it?

Thanks in advance for your help

No need to have advanced hotel pickup. Easy to take a taxi from Krabi airport (cheap) to your hotel. As for driving to Khoa Lak, it may take a little longer then 4 hours. I'm also going through Khoa Lak on the way to Khoa Sok National Park from Krabi but will stop at Phang Nga after our Oh Phang Nga tour before moving on. It's a VERY worthwhile tour and the highlight of south Thailand in my view (I've done it 4 years ago). It includes the Muslim Village, James Bond Isl. etc. You can go out of Krabi and return but we will stay in Phang Nga town after the tour ends this time. I would be interested in hearing how you get to Khoa Lak from Krabi. I've been looking for advice myself on going to Khoa Sok Nat'l Park by way of Khoa Lak. You should check on that also and try to include it in your itinerary. I've had great feedback from other travelers on it. Hopefully, you can advise me on your return of the cost and type of transportation. [email protected]

rhkkmk - thanks for the info. I drew up my plan after reading some of your threads.

Where did you get laundry done again?

Any advice on where to get massages?
