Kowloon or Hong Kong Island?

We will be staying in Hong Kong for 4 days and would like to know your views on whether to stay in Honk Kong Island or Kowloon area.

Stay on Kowloon side in walking distance to Star Ferry either on Nathan Rd. or off it and take ferry to Hong Kong Is. If you can afford it stay near ferry with view toward H. K. I.
Definitely stay Kowloonside - Hong Kong Island 'dies' at night, unless you want to eat at one of the expensive hotels. Nathan Road is hopping; the Temple Street market is close. Though ask for a high floor at your hotel, so you will not be bothered by traffic noise.

If you walk along the Harbor Promenade Kowloon side, you can see the sparkling Hong Kong skyline - smell the sea - and get the breezes. There is no comparable view from the Hong Kong side. The other element is also true that Central is quieter in the evening. Stay Kowloon side...and spend the extremely inexpensive ferry fare to go Central or Wanchai or Causeway Bay if you need to.
As they say, the best place to see Hong Kong is from Kowloon side.

Michael From New York [leaving for HK late November]
