aladin-

Here's the link to a recent thread "Hong Kong Hotels"
http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34482238

One of the posters "gard" was at Kowloon Hotel, so read his post.

I've stayed at the Kowloon hotel. Typical business hotel. Located behind the Peninsula Hotel (which is nice spot to have a drink, shop etc..)

Centrally located, not far from ferry, short walk to train station, and great views of Hkg just across the street.
Buffet breakfast as I recall was good and the room was nice...although wished it had been a bit larger.
No complaints.

we have stayed there...can't beat the location..it is owned by the peninsula group....great dim sum restaurant in the basement...very small rooms, and i mean very small....free internet in each room...very reasonable for hk.....

you will only be disappointed by the smallness of the room, which you actually spend very little time in...

Not only is it run by The Peninsula Group, but staying at the hotel allows you use of some of The Peninsula's facilities across the road, including its magnificent (8th floor) pool and adjacent terrace.

Corner suites (two small rooms linked together) have sofa-bed in the sitting room and work out cheap for families of four.

The Kowloon is currently very keen on promoting its satellite newspaper kiosk, which prints out the latest editions of papers from all over the world on demand. (A Toronto paper was very thoughtfully delivered to me daily while I was staying at The Peninsula earlier this week.) The owners (Kadoorie family) are famous for liking gadgets, as the highly automated rooms in The Peninsula and the all-in-one TV/Web/fax/email/printer units in the Kowloon rooms, complete with free email address which may be retained for use on subsequent visits, indicate.

Business hotel the Kowloon certainly is; 'typical business hotel' certainly not.

Incidentally, there's a group-wide promotion due to start which offers quite substantial benefits to those prepared to pay rack rates. I can't provide full details, but let's just say that from the summary I was given the extras in the package more than covered the increase in rate, stratospheric as rack rates are in HK. I'm not sure whether this package will run to rooms at the Kowloon as well as the named Peninsula properties, but it would be worth looking out for, if full luxury is valued over cheapest price.

Hi

My wife and I stayed there for a few days in March 2003. I have posted a "review" of the hotels we used in China on this page: http://www.gardkarlsen.com/china_hotels.htm. I have also posted a trip report and pictures from our trip on my personal homepage www.gardkarlsen.com :-) Maybe it can be of some help to you.
