Stay well clear of Chawaeng and probably also Lamai. Take a look at these sites which both have good maps.

http://www.sawadee.com

http://www.asiatravel.com

I am not personaly a 'Samui' or 'Phuket' lover at all so it would be unfair to give any tips.

I went to Koh Samui last year and had a very enjoyable stay. An excellent resort to stay in is 'The Tongsai Bay'. Check it out before you make your decision. (Their open air room concept is just fabulous)

Hi

I was in Ko Samui in March. We stayed in Bophut in the north of the island. It is quieter there but the beach was lovely and there was a nice selection of restaurants in 'Fishermans Village' nearby. We stayed at the Samui
palm beach resort which was an excellent hotel right on the beach.

Cathy

Hi Mast

I agree with Cathy. For us the best beaches are either Bophut or MAENAM especially for a family
Bruno

Thanks everybody!
A friend of mine told me that Chawaeng Noi is quite a good location, in the sense that it is quiet and not far away from restaurants and shops if we need to, is it a better choice?

Thanks again!
mast

Definitely Maenam. Home Bay Resort is clean a a very good bargain.

hi- my daughter and I stayed at Nara Garden near Big Buddha Beach/Bophut and it was incredible, very tranquil, great rooms, and fabulous food. Enjoy your trip
