Koh Samai area Dining
 

We will be at the Sala Ssamui Resort for 5 nights. Where should we have dinner? We enjoy air conditioning sice we will be there in early May. We want local cuisine primarily but fine food. We prefer local beach shacks for lunch but not dinner.
We enjoy seafood but not fish. Chicken, pork, and beef are all fine.
We would like a range of $40-$80/ couple with service/tax. Could you give us names, locations (prefer within 1-2 miles)of resort and best meals you have enjoyed in the past 6-12 months. Chef's change and so can the food, we realize. Thanks.

one wonderful place is up on a cliff just south of chaewang beach town...its called the terrace restaurant...it is right on the main road heading south from the town maybe 1-2 miles on top of one of the hills overlooking the ocean and cliffs...food was fantastic...

much of it was outside but i think there was one a/c room....at nite it should not be too bad....

the five islands restaurant not far from the meredien hotels was also wonderful but all al fresco...

Can't help as we aren't going there until September!

We are staying at Rocky Resort which is a beachfront resort with what is meant to be a fantastic restaurant. Funnily enough, a girl I worked with about 10 years ago just emailed me today with a recommendation to eat there :)

The indoor A/C room at the Cliff is for their bar and there is no A/C dining at this restaurant. Also, as of the last time I ate at the Cliff, there are no "local" cuisine either.

There are some Chinese / Thai restaurant that have both A/C as well as local offering. Hmm.. by local do you mean Southern Thai food or do you mean Thai food in general?

The Cliff, as rhkkmk, has mentioned is nice and cozy even romantic for a couple on their honeymoon. Prego (Italian) is also nice with good food and decoration but no A/C.
